I have been using Waterpik Ultra for half a year, and decided to get this cordless model for my travel need. Unfortunately, this unit can never substitute for countertop models (for reasons below). Pro - Very portable, and travel bag is a plus; it is still rather large compared to the rest of your bathroom accessories, but relatively compact when you compare to countertop models. - Compatible for international voltages, which is a plus for me who travels around quite a bit. - Magnetic charging mechanism is well-designed and works well. Con - The water pressure is just not comparable to the countertop model. I typically use a pressure 4-6 setting, and the cordless on High setting feels like a pressure 2. I don't get the same cleansed feeling after using the cordless model. - The water tank lasts less than a minute, as other reviews also suggest. Personally I'm spoiled with the water capacity of the Ultra, so <1 minute really doesn't feel like it's getting the full job done. - Cleaning the water tank is also tough to clean, due to the design of the opening and tank shape. Considering it is battery-powered and has to generate 45-75 psi water pressure, it's not bad. I end up returning this cordless unit and stick with my Ultra. Whatever I lack when traveling on the road, I will compensate when I use my home countertop unit.

I held off until my first visit back to the dentist to review this. This was originally recommended by the same Dentist, and I’m happy to report that it went very well. I knew it would though because my teeth had never felt better. Cleaning was a breeze and my gums were healthier than they’d been in in years. My Dentist did have 2 pointers before starting. One was to use it in the shower. Great idea. The reservoir is small and takes 4 refills to do a complete cleaning. It eliminates the mess, the warm water is better than cold, and added to your morning shower makes it an easy routine. Second recommendation was to use the low pressure mode. Apparently some people have trouble in the highest of 3 speeds but it wasn’t an issue with me. The no-plug in magnet charger is genius. I travel a lot and always bring it with me. The battery is good for several days so you probably don’t need the charger unless you’re going away for more than a few days. I’ve only used the one “bent straw” like tip, never even tried the rest, this was fine for me. I did see a question about adding mouth wash. Really no need it will clean your teeth just fine without it and probably not good for the pump anyway. If you brush first with a good mild abrasive toothpaste (like Arm and Hammer), rinse with the flosser and then use a mouthwash afterwards you’ll think you just left the dentist. It’s that good. Worth all 5 stars for sure. UPDATE: After almost exactly 12 months it up and died. I think the Lithium battery died as it was unable to hold a charge. The battery is not replaceable (I tried), so I am going to lower my rating to a 3-star, yes it was a good tool, but 12 months use is not worth a 5-star.

My old corded WaterPik was wonderful but in need of replacement after 10 years of use. My husband saw this cordless rechargeable version, and we decided to give it a try. It does the job (mostly), although it doesn't have as many settings as our old one. I have two complaints about this model. I find it to be a bit unwieldy. Because the unit flares out about midway down (the base becomes very wide and bulbous), I don't find this to be very comfortable to hold. In addition, it almost has to be used exclusively in an upright position. When you turn it to reach back teeth, the internal tubing tends to lose contact with the water in the reservoir (even before the water is very low). When this unit wears out, I fully intend to return to the traditional model.

I researched all brands and , I still bought this and I am glad I did. I called Water Pik and they confirmed I would kill the battery if left it on, so I now charge after every use and ONLY when I home home to watch the charger light go out. After a month I learned to use on high and just fill 4 times, once front, then back, top & bottom. Beats having a tank. Other than TERRIBLE battery design, biggest complaint is that it is not designed to fully drain out of the plug hole (raised higher inside than the water housing). Pulling the bottom off every time is ridiculous. I just shake it, then set on a paper towel because it leaks for awhile, and leave the plug open to air dry.

ADDITIONAL(Added April 29 2019): Bought this December 2018, it's already "not working" much of the time. Hit the button to turn it on and it does nothing. I charge it every day. Since it was not working I decided to tear it apart and see what was wrong. All lights worked and the electronics seems watertight and in good shape BUT the small electric motor was corroded very badly. Its shaft to the gear was rusted terribly so I suspect this is why it wouldn't run. Picture attached. Whomever designed this unit must not have planned for a human hand having to hold it. When using it I often either turn it off or change the pressure setting or worse yet when you go to pick it up you accidentally hit the ON switch. Thank goodness this designer is designing dental care products, if he/she were designing a car the START/OFF and the ACCELERATOR would be right on the steeling wheel where your hands grip it.
