About Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant is a U.S based premium skincare brand that produces high quality products. Drunk Elephant is created byTiffany Masterson, a Texas stay-at-home mother who got her start selling an imported soap to make extra cash during the 2008 economical recession. At first, she thought its ingredients had transformed her skin, but soon after, she realized it was "what wasn't in it" that was making a difference. Nowadays, there are more than 20 products in the Drunk Elephant facial skincare product range, which gets its name from the hero ingredient, marula oil. Basically, when elephants eat the fruit from marula trees, they get drunk.

All of the products are naturally-formulated and cater directly to your skin's health

Are Drunk Elephant products cruelty free?

All of the products are cruelty-free and without what Masterson calls the "Suspicious 6", which are as follows:

  • Essential oils
  • Drying alcohols
  • Silicones
  • Chemical sunscreens
  • Fragrances/dyes
  • SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)

Drunk Elephant products are also Paraben-free, Non-comedogenic, pH-balanced, and Clinically tested by top specialists and experts in advanced third-party labs.

This is my first and only experience with retinoids.
It was recommended to me because I was looking for anything that could help with both anti-aging and uneven texture.
My dermatologist recommended it, and I've already noticed a difference in the texture of my skin after only four weeks of use.
Ceramides are also present in this retinoid, which aid to repair the skin's barrier, which is beneficial.
If you can afford it, I strongly advise you to do so.

  • Dida

It does not sink into the skin, it remains on the face, and when you perspire, it turns into a liquid mix that falls off, which is not ideal.

I was unhappy to receive a Retinol Creams product that did not disclose all of the chemicals in the composition.

  • sandra

In Retinol Creams, I decided to give this product a try. I should have heeded the saleslady's warning. I had all of those adverse effects after around three uses, spaced about two days apart: redness, flaking and peeling, as well as dryness and tightness. I didn't want to deal with any of it because I already had good skin and wanted to maintain it that way!It was returned to me.

  • nikarina

This product in retinol creams reminds me of a volcano of pimples.

  • Hattie

Will cause you to get SERIOUS acne!

I'm 37 years old and haven't had this bad acne in 20 years. My face is covered in mounds.I spent FOUR MONTHS trying to figure out why I suddenly developed such bad acne.I altered my diet, had an appointment with a dermatologist, and hid behind a covid mask whenever I could.I saw a video on buying items like these on Amazon one day and understood THIS was the source of the problem.I put it to the test, and my old skin returned after just SIX days of not using this terrible substance in face cleansers. There are no pimples.Keep your distance from this!Return to the $10 over-the-counter goods!

Don't buy it

The "No. 9" and the black ornamental print are both gone. The "cap" is terrible. To get the product out, you must twist it and squeeze it.Additional product comes out when I twist it back to seal it, providing me more than I need and preventing me from standing it right side up since the product gets all over the counter.I'm not sure if this is a vintage product/packaging or a total forgery.

  • Lola

The Jelly Cleanser by Drunk Elephant is a poor product. It's pretty basic, a little drying, and expensive for the amount of product you receive. If money isn't an issue, you could like this if you have oily skin. This was given to me as a deluxe sample. This Face Cleanser is not something I would buy.

A huge disappointment

For approximately 4 days, I used it in the morning and evening and it absolutely screwed up my skin to the point that I had to stop using it; my face was incredibly flaky, especially around the cheek area—been it's a week and my skin is still not back to normal.
Although the recommendations on the DE's website suggest only applying it once a day, I believe it would still be too drying.
I do not endorse this product and would urge anyone with any skin type to avoid it.
It was a tremendous letdown.

  • big

I used it after my makeup removal cream, but the next morning I still had a severe pimple.

  • Debbie P

A bit disappointing

After applying this product, my face is sticky. Once the sticky feeling is gone, my face doesn’t feel smooth and it feels dry. I will not purchase again.

  • Kim V

Not as great a product as the Vitamin C one

The effects it had on the skin was not as immediately noticeable as the Vitamin C one that Drunk Elephant has.

  • JLBM

Not good

Glycolic acid is a bit harsh for my skin but I thought TLC would be different because of all the goodies packed in it. It was better than most but for the price I expected much better. Nightly use was still not an option for me and I honestly didn’t notice a big difference in my skin texture or pores. I will be sticking with lactic acid based products.

  • Emma Lark

The product caused irritation.

After a month using the product I needed to go to the dermatologist because I had spots on my face. The product caused irritation.

  • Anna P

This product is literally amazing! I have pretty normal skin. No acne really and sometimes a troublesome t-zone. The orange serum brightens and reduces redness in my skin. The orange serum is quite sticky though, but when you follow it with the other white serum, it helps it not be so sticky.

  • Meghan M.

This is a decent vitamin C serum. My one gripe about it is that it smells like gross barbecue for some reason, which is odd because other Vit Cs I’ve tried smell citrusy or have no scent. Give it a shot with one of DE’s mini sets.

  • timkywinky

winner winner, chicken dinner

This made my face look incredible. It does have a faint smell but it’s not intolerable, and since I wear my moisturizer over it, I really don’t notice the stickiness.

  • hollyy77

Not a very enjoyable smell

I really can’t get past the smell of this product. Otherwise, I enjoy the product.

  • Becksinthecity

Terrible product smell. Super chemical. Couldn't get past this to put in daily.

Three S... Sticky, Smelly, Sensitive

I wanted to love this product, used it daily and got so red, itchy and overall BAD reaction. I narrowed it down to the VIT C (used DE from cleanser to all serums and creams) and stopped l. When reordered serums back in March, I then bought another full size. Same issues happened. Now.. I have put in fridge, blending with Protini Cream and gone down to twice a week and I am okay. Tried three times and had mild reactions. VitC is so good for your skin and I can tell it is very strong and I love knowing it is helping my skin. I wanted to be able to use it in some way. I do use it daily on my hands and chest area just fine. My face is ultra sensitive to most stuff... big bummer fighting age. So, two stars removed for the chemical smell, VERY tacky feeling on my skin unless blended and their customer services responses to people on social media. I still would tell people to try it out. DE makes some good stuff and Vit C is in top five for fighting free radicals and protecting skin inna morning routine.

Don't do it

I got this as a reward selection and threw it away after one use. It smells AWFUL. And gave my skin a bad reaction. Horrible. Avoid. Turn back. Do not buy!

  • koffiano

Smells terrible and a bit sticky but dang it works! My skin is bright. Results within days. I also use it at the back of my hand.

  • GabrielleDB

Great But Pricey

Was the first Vitamin C serum I purchased and it really reduced my hyperpigmentation. It is sticky but I didn't mind much and the clean formulation is great. L ascorbic acid is the most potent form of vitamin C but the most unstable. However this is really pricey for me and that was a turn off. I definitely would recommend based on results and not price. I do love Drunk Elephant but again price is a turn off for me. There are other great vitamin cs for less.

  • Viiibrations

Why does it keep leaking?!

The product itself is pretty good, but they seriously need to redesign its container. It inexplicably leaks just when it's sitting up undisturbed on the counter. Wastes product and very sticky and messy.

  • amw121

Great Serum!

I LOVE this product! It is a great "priming" serum for my foundation, and mixed with bronzing drops & the polypeptide moisturizer, my skin feels more illuminated than ever. The only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is because it leaves my skin feeling a little tacky for longer than I would like. If I put it on right after I shower, I find that it helps more.

  • Pianistria

Brilliant and stinky

I don't really know what to say. I could see a result from the first apply, now after two weeks my skin is 15 times better, no less. And it is most surprisingly for me because I have normal skin without any problems, I am 27. And still it makes my skin look better. HOWEVER it is sticky and smells so awful! And if stickiness go away after about 1,5-2 hours, this smell stays until washing away. Even though I am not too sensitive to aroma, and I understand that it is because the product is supernatural and does not contain any chemical fragrance, I wish it bette contain it! Smell for me is combination between cognac, smithing metallic and rubber. My tip is use no more than 2 drops on face, two on neck and chest and one on the back of my hands. I apply it right after my morning bath/shower. Smell is awful, but result of the product is so obvious that I am going to repurchase it without any doubt. And the packaging is stunning as well.

  • btd

Great product. Started to see a difference after the first week. Will buy again

  • Julie Gardyasz

When I first started this product, my skin did purge for about 2.5-3 weeks. Especially by my chin which is my trouble area. I stuck it out and afterwards I couldn’t be happier. I use it daily before bed along with c-firma the next morning. It been a long time since I’ve been semi happy with my skin. It’s pricy but worth it

  • Ruby

it’s OK, a bit over-rated

Doesn’t work for me and on my skin. Works well as a mild chemical exfoliator but there isn’t much ingredient in it to nourish the skin. I bought it due to the overwhelming positive reviews but in the end, felt like it was kind of over-rated. The bottle is beautiful designed and engineered. I like how the pump is perfectly concealed within the top and you have to rotate it to see the pump. Pretty neat feature.

  • Susanneg

Based on the reviews I read I was expecting a noticeable difference in my skin. I have used according to directions for about 3 weeks now and I have not yet seen a change. I plan to continue using.

  • Kindle Customer

It makes a noticeable difference.

I have just started using this product and so far I really like it. I am primarily using it to help with hormonal acne, and it seems to be helping my acne be less severe. I spread it all over my face, though, and I have noticed a difference in how my skin looks and feels. I use it every night and have not noticed any signs of excess dryness. I am really liking it so far.

  • Charley

Didnt work for me unfortunately

Tried this for about a month to combat my acne, but it did not help me. If anything, my skin has just gotten worse. Onto the next product!

Problems with the bottle

I like the product. A lot. But I have problems with the bottle. When I push down the dispenser the product doesn’t come. It’s really hard to get some product. Seems like when the product is in the end. I think the bottle I received was not full or some problem with it. I am disappointed because the little I could use I saw the difference on my skin. I would like to have an explanation from the seller. I am considering if I should buy another brand.

  • John Vaughn

Saw good results

I used it on my forehead at night to remove fine lines and it worked very well removing them, almost completely gone after one night. A little goes a long way which is especially important to keep in mind when the serum is $90. Drunk elephant is a clean brand which makes sure all its product’s ingredients are ethically sourced

  • Stella Ryan

Worth it

This is one of those rare products that worth the price. I Use it ever other night. Its strong, bit not irritating. No fragrance and no alcohol. I follow it with a retinol moisturizer. This will shrink your pores and minimize the size of blackheads.

  • Jacqueline S. Mitchell

Not worth the orice

This is a really nice product but there are certainly ones that are as good that are less expensive and don’t come in so much plastic

  • Lamar

I'm going to give this four starts for the bottle ...

I'm going to give this four starts for the bottle and for the appearance of my skin. My skin is noticeably brighter and smoother.

I'm docking one star for the price and because the bottle broke within one week.

  • Auntie_mame

Five Stars

great ingredients, good quality - drawback is lightweight plastic container but good that it has a pump.

  • theindigold

Did I receive an old product?

Item came in well but product dispensed on first use was already brown? Read that product is not likely as effective this way. Waste of money!

  • AB123

good product, but stains everygthing orange

The ingredients are great, Vitamin C is known to be good to prevent signs of aging, and this has ferulic acid too. It's very similar to the skinceuticals product and half the price.
I am starting to get a few small lines now (late 30s) and started to use it. It's been about 6 months, and I've not really seen a difference. I'm quite happy with my face though I do have neck lines that I was hoping this would help. It hasn't thus far. But the science is definitely there, so even if I'm not seeing any big changes, I'm sure other people will.
Why the 3 stars? It turns everything ORANGE! I've ruined sheets, pillow covers, night gowns, clothes....
So I'm going to continue to use Skinceuticals, which doesnt ruin my clothing, even though it is more expensive. I wear a lot of white/light colors, so this may be the cheaper alternative!

  • Bchic77

Not for rosacea sufferers

I really wanted to like this product but it has made my rosacea so much worse. My skin gets red and itchy after using it and this is after a 3 day break. Sadly I'm out 80 dollars.

  • devorah

The Best

I love C -Firma Day. I purchased related to a Paula's Choice five star review. I have been satisfied with the purchase. My skin appears to have less sun spots and fine wrinkles. I use on the back of my hands also. I have a backup and will purchase again. My hands definitely show the benefits

  • Charles and Jenn

Amazing serum

This serum has made a noticeable difference in my skin evenness and brightness over the last two weeks. I use one pump every morning after I my face oil and before my moisturizer. It is pricey, but I figured, hey, it's my face! No fragrance, the serum is a light amber color that goes on the skin smoothly and does not sting. I will buy this over and over.
