Will CBD help you get a happier sex life?

Heather Huff-Bogart's sex life shifted when she got rid of her IUD. She was now "curled over in pain with cramps" from the once exciting and pleasurable ride. She wanted to use a personal lubricant flavored with cannabidiol (CBD) about six months ago, keen to find a solution to the crisis, and she found immediate changes.

“It helped to relieve the pain and inflammation that I feel during intercourse. My husband has found that I don't moan about pain too much, which has been helpful to both of us,” Huff-Bogart says.

CBD is commonly available in a range of kinds, ranging from oils and tinctures to topical creams and drinks, despite its newness to the existing industry. CBD has recently found its way into the bedroom. The product can be used in a wide range of items, many of which are intended to help people enhance their sexual lives. These products include:

Massage lotions

Edibles

Oral sprays

Personal lubricants

Will CBD, on the other hand, truly change your sex life?

Here's what you need to learn about the nature of CBD and sex, as well as personal cannabidiol encounters.

How CBD will help you get a better sex life

People use CBD for sex for a variety of causes, including chronic discomfort from conditions including endometriosis.

Rising enjoyment is one of the other causes.

Stress and anxiety, like performance anxiety, are minimized.

Creating the ideal atmosphere.

Alex Capano, medical advisor for Ananda Hemp and faculty member at Thomas Jefferson University's Lambert Center for the Study of Medicinal Cannabis and Hemp, discusses how CBD can assist with lubrication during sex.

“Cannabinoid receptors are abundant in reproductive organs and sexual tissue. According to Capano, CBD stimulates blood supply to tissues, which enhances sensitivity and encourages the body's own natural lubricants.

CBD will make people relax for sex, according to Allison Wallis. Wallis has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which causes extreme muscle spasms and joint subluxations. She states that she first discovered the effects of CBD when she used a lubricant filled with the substance.

“It relaxes my muscles and makes for a more satisfying sex,” she explains, noting that the lube gives her a “warmth and relief feeling.”

“I was pleasantly shocked by how well it functioned. It freed me up to concentrate on the intimacy of the act rather than my muscle spasms.”

It's difficult to tell how many people use CBD for sex, but according to a new poll of 5,398 Americans conducted by Remedy Review, a website dedicated to CBD and alternative health therapies, 9.3% of respondents have used CBD for sex. After taking CBD, the most of those polled said their orgasms were more powerful.

Furthermore, CBD may evoke romantic feelings in some people. CBD has been shown in studies to be beneficial in lowering stress and anxiety. This stimulation will help to reduce the distractions and fears that can sabotage a satisfying sexual encounter.

Capano suggests that “calming the mind and just reflecting on enjoying” are vital components.

“This is particularly true for women in heterosexual relationships, who are often under the urge to orgasm.”

Although CBD does not produce a psychoactive effect, it does have the potential to improve your mood by improving the neurotransmitter anandamide.

“Anandamide is our bliss neurotransmitter, and it's linked to oxytocin [also known as the ‘cuddle hormone,'],” Capano explains. “CBD aids in the production of natural neurotransmitters and endorphins, which leads to a more pleasurable sex life.”

Owing to a lack of testing, some analysts are suspicious of CBD's effects.

Though preliminary research has CBD supporters optimistic about its promise for health and sexuality, some experts believe that further research is required before any definitive conclusions can be made.

Dr. Jordan Tishler, a cannabis therapeutics specialist at InhaleMD and president of the Association of Cannabis Specialists, claims there aren't any reports on CBD for sexuality, particularly when used as a topical application.

“CBD is completely useless when it comes to sexuality. The avoidance of intoxication is the main benefit, which has led to general adoption [of the compound], despite the apparent fact that it is merely a placebo.”

He suggests the emphasis should be on cannabis, which he claims has “40-plus years of data” on its sexuality effects.

“I prefer to prescribe vaporized cannabis flower for the treatment of sexual-related disorders because we know THC deals with the four phases of sexuality: libido, anticipation, orgasm, and satisfaction,” he states.

Sarah Ratliff, a 52-year-old woman who has been using marijuana for pain relief for several years, reports she saw no benefit from using CBD oil. She found significant changes in her sex life after smoking and vaping cannabis, which contains both CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

She said, "It just makes me calm and let go of the day." “Sex was more intense when I started smoking, and I guess it's because it reduces my inhibitions and helps my body to concentrate.”

Despite the absence of clinical trials, physicians and health providers who have seen changes in their patients' sexual lives suggest anecdotal research has led them to believe in CBD items.

“These products are effective. “They will enrich the experience and make it a bit more satisfying,” says Goldstein, the founder and CEO of Bespoke Surgical, an anal surgery clinic that specializes on the sexual health, education, and satisfaction of the LGBTQ+ population.

“My patients have shown me the majority of what I know about CBD's advantages. However, as this becomes more regulated, more research may be conducted.”

Before entering the bedroom, take CBD.

CBD does not always function the moment you wish to use it, whether as a lubricant or as a supplement. To give it sufficient time to kick in, start taking it — or using it — 30 to 60 minutes before you go into the bedroom.
